Good morning! 🙂

Hope your Thursday is off to a great start.  This morning I decided to rise and shine with some Zumba!   I’ve never been to an actual zumba class but I have a DVD that I used to do all the time.  Lately I’ve been getting into it again and I have to say there’s something about mix of crazy cardio and fun music that puts a smile on my face.  It was a good start to the day.  🙂

My coworker is out of town for a continuing education conference so I’m flying solo at work today which also means any patients that need to be seen, calls to be made or questions that need answered fall on the shoulders of this girl

(me <——— )

I don’t mind the work or even being busy but on days like this it’s nice to get up early, take a little control of my day and carve out some time to do something for me before I feel like I’m at everyone else’s disposal.

I made myself a smoothie using the Garden of LIfe Protein Powder sample I picked up yesterday.  I also added 1 c blueberries, 1 c almond milk, 1/2 tbsp almond butter , 1 tsp cocoa and a little cinnamon.

Trying a new protein powder is always a little bit of an adjustment , still this tasted off to me.  I couldn’t quite put my finger on it but the best way I can explain it is that it tasted a little like baking soda (kind of like when you eat a big spoonful of angel food cake batter that’s come from a box mix – not that I’ve done that…)  It wasn’t horrible, just different.  This is usually my favorite smoothie and it just didn’t taste quite as good today.  I’d probably try it again but I’m really hoping the Sun Warrior comes through for me.  :).

The rest of the day’s meals:

Spinach and arugula salad with chicken, walnuts and dates, pink lady apple, kombucha (can’t believe I’m packing kombucha in my lunch – thanks Sunflower Market!), brown rice cracker with Justin’s chocolate hazelnut butter (can’t wait!), ezekiel pita pocket, peanut butter cookie lara bar.

I wanted food that would be quick and easy to eat on the go since I’m anticipating a busy day but I also wanted to be sure to include a couple treats (kombucha, the chocolate hazelnut butter).  It might sound silly but it makes me feel like I’m doing something indulgent for myself, even if I only get a couple minutes to relax and enjoy it.

So with that in mind, I’m off to tackle the day!  Hope you have a great one!

Kristi
